The Hughes Buy a Harley

That's right, we did it! Jimbo has always wanted a Harley and now is the perfect time for one. Don't worry, we're not planning our trip to Bike Week in Daytona Beach just yet. We haven't even bought any leather. We did decide to buy it to save money on gas though. Pretty sweet reason to get a Harley, huh? So grown-up and responsible...
Anyway, here are some of the pictures:

J got himself a helmet

J has already taken it out a few times. I still haven't been on it yet. I'm giving Jimbo some time to get used to it himself before I add 100 plus pounds on the back haha! I can't wait to see how it feels to be on the back of a bike though :)

Follow Me

Since I don't really know what I am doing with this blog, I looked up "how to sign friends up to read my blog" (haha more or less) and the blogspot people have suggested I make a post about how to follow me and my blog. So many people just read the blog and then lose the web address and don't remember how to get back to it later to read updates. So, long story short, just come to the blog and hit the button on the right side of the page that says "Follow" and then you'll be linked to this blog forever :) Have a great night!

Housewarming Party!

This weekend we hosted our first party in our new home! We invited our families and a few friends to come and share in some of the first memories made in our home. My family and J's mom came on Friday and we enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant and brewery. Saturday was the day of the party and J's sister and aunt and uncle came. Our friend Tori came too! We didn't capture many pictures of the party (whoops!) because we were having that much fun and it was a busy day! We had so much food!!! And that is what I did get pictures of, ha!
Fruit tray, Peanut butter yogurt dip, Sangria, Sausage dip, Buffalo chicken dip, and Avocado Bruschetta. We also had kabobs and calamari!

America!

My parents gave J a really nice, thoughtful gift. They made a case for a saber that represents his time at West Point. It was a family affair since J's mom bought the saber a year ago when he graduated.
It goes really nicely with the gift my dad gave J at our wedding. My dad arranged for the American flag to fly over the Capitol in D.C. in honor of Jimbo on the day of his graduation from West Point (May 22, 2010). Then he had it placed in a case and gave it to him on our wedding day in June 2010.

We also were given a huge, beautiful clock from my parents and we have a few gift cards to Lowes to help make our house a home. J's sister also gave us some of her old furniture to make a new guest room! Yay for more room for visitors!! Our friends Tori and Zac gave us some really cute appetizer plates for all of the parties we will host! I love them!!! And Tori made sure they matched the plates we already have. She's so thoughtful!! Thank you to everyone who came to our housewarming party! We had a blast and appreciate everything you have all done for us :)

Fourth Festivities!

The fourth of July is a definite favorite in the Hughes home. What is better than food, family, friends, fireworks, and fun?! Having all of this at the beach! We were blessed to be invited to my Aunt and Uncle's beach house in Florida to celebrate the holiday weekend so we headed down to FL on Saturday morning and got to stay until Tuesday morning. We were in Flagler Beach, which is a small community so you can walk, ride a bike, or a golf cart anywhere you go.
J was so excited to go kayaking in the ocean and of course wanted me to join him, but there wasn't much that he could have said that would have convinced me to go out into the deep, scary ocean on a kayak! Even alone, he had a blast! He said he saw a school of fish being watched by a piranha (yikes!) and a sea turtle (which are my favorite)!

We cooked a pig and Dad and J cooked calamari (which was a HUGE hit!) and fries.

Fun pictures from the night of fireworks!

Crazy kids

The only firework picture I got, sorry!

We hope everyone had an amazing holiday weekend as well! As always, keep our soldiers all over the world in your prayers!
